Online casino represented the biggest increase in revenue, generating 7.8% GGR growth on the previous year (DKK284m), while betting rose by 0.7% to DKK149m.

Despite the upturn in online casino revenue, it was still some way off the record amount of DKK309m in March.

Sports betting revenue was up slightly on the previous to DKK149m from DKK148m, although it dropped from June’s GGR of DKK271m at the height of the Euro 2024 tournament.

Online casino accounted for 51.25% of total GGR, with sports betting making up 26.9% of the sector.

The split between verticals was only slightly different to July 2023, when online casino accounted for 48.69% of GGR.

Denmark July retail revenue takes a hit

On the land-based side, casino spending dropped 9.4% year-on-year to DKK29m, while slot machine revenue also fell 5.2% to DKK92m. Casino revenue was also down 9.3% from the previous month.

Slot machine GGR also dipped on a monthly basis from DKK97m in June.

The regulator noted 51,226 players were signed up to its national self-exclusion scheme ROFUS in July. The figure included 17,157 temporarily excluded players and 34,069 fully excluded players.

ROFUS registrations jumped 11% between July 2023 and 2024. Females accounted for 22.67% of those excluded players while males made up the remaining 77.33%.

ROFUS self excluded players had increases 1.63% since June, when the regulator reported total GGR of DKK703m.
