DC players can now access and place bets with ESPN Bet via mobile and web platforms. The brand offers wagering across major league sports in the US and other competitions from around the world.

Betting options include live betting and featured parlays, while users will also have access to features such as daily odds boosts, custom offers and exclusive promotions and integrations with ESPN content and personalities.

In addition, customers in DC will have the option to link their ESPN Bet and ESPN accounts. This will allow them to track upcoming, live and settled bets within the ESPN app and on ESPN.com.

ESPN Bet joins other leading names such as BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, Fanatics Sportsbook and FanDuel in DC.

“We’re thrilled to launch ESPN Bet in our nation’s capital and expand our presence across the Washington metropolitan area,” Penn Entertainment chief technology officer Aaron LaBerge said yesterday (21 January).

“Along with our partner ESPN, we’re excited to introduce our deeply integrated media and betting experience and further engage with the DC area’s passionate sports community.”

ESPN Bet partners Monumental Sports in DC

The launch comes just one week after Penn Entertainment announced details of a market access agreement in DC. It secured a partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) to move into the DC market.

This agreement will see ESPN Bet become a sports betting partner of MSE and its sports teams. MSE owns the NHL Washington Capitals, NBA Washington Wizards and the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. It also counts several multi-purpose venues among its DC-based assets.

The new partnership also includes other market elements such as IP rights for the Capitals, Wizards and Mystics. This covers both ESPN Bet and the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. In addition, ESPN Bet will benefit from in-arena signage, out-of-home advertising, a commercial schedule across Monumental Sports Network and hospitality and experiences.

Since launching the ESPN Bet brand in November 2023, Penn has gone live in 20 markets, with DC the latest. Other US jurisdictions include Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
