She began her career in the legal team at Ladbrokes. More recently, she held the position of non-executive director at Paysafe Group.

A solicitor with over 30 years’ experience, Stewart-Jones said she was honoured to join the GCB team at such an important time for Curaçao.

The jurisdiction is overhauling its gambling regulations, heralding major change for the existing framework.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Gaming Control Board team at such a pivotal moment,” said Stewart-Jones. “It’s an honour to be part of the monumental change that is the revitalising of Curaçao as a world-class player in the global gambling arena.”

Transition period

Stewart-Jones’ new role comes as Curaçao enters a transition period in its licensing process. The region is currently preparing to implement the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK).

Those that wish to operate uninterrupted in Curaçao as the LOK comes into effect need to submit an application through the GCB’s portal, which opened on 1 September.

Application forms are available to download now on the portal, to be submitted from 15 November.

Once the LOK is enacted, the Curaçao Gaming Authority becomes the country’s new regulator.
