The figures, which remain subject to independent audit, place this year’s event ahead of the last version of a full ICE London in 2020 when 36,000 people visited.
The event was cancelled in 2021 due to the pandemic while a scaled down ICE London took place last year in April, attracting 24,000 attendees in total.
Other figures from the initial data set included 79,000 return visits, while 50% of attendees operate in both land-based and online with 50% online only.
Casino and games was the primary area of operation for 20,000 attendees this year, while 13,000 are focused on sports betting and 5,000 payments.
“It’s very important to stress that the data is subject to independent verification however we are confident that ICE has broken through the 40,000 high point and in the process set a new attendance record for a show which in its original format dates back to the 1930s,” Clarion Gaming managing director Stuart Hunter said.
“Clearly these are really significant numbers and I believe they reflect the huge importance and value that visitors attach to their ICE experience.”
In addition, it was noted that the ICE VOX education program sold out for the first time this year, with this to be expanded in 2024 to allow for more exhibitors.
“2024 will see further expansion of this important area to facilitate increased content and capacity,” Hunter said. “Significantly more than 80% of available stand space for the 2024 edition was re-booked by 4pm on Thursday.”
