t its monthly meeting Thursday, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission agreed to the $8 million budget presented in the project to renew Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resorts in Larchwood. The first of two phases of construction will begin in September, and is expected to be completed by November’s Thanksgiving.
In this first instance, the casino floor will receive new slot bases, carpet and chairs, and a brand new poker room. The VIP offices and restrooms will also be updated.
The second phase of the project, which has been programmed for the first quarter of 2022, will include the restaurants and front of the house spaces.
Even though the whole casino will be under construction, officials have assured that it will not stand in the way of gaming, dining or enjoying any of the resort activities.
According to Sioux City Journal, Sharon Haselhoff, general manager of Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort spoke about the casino’s new endeavour and assured that “the project is consistent with our business philosophy of reinvesting in our properties, providing world-class facilities, luxurious amenities, exceptional food and great guest services”.
This is the second major construction for the rural Lyon County casino in less than two years. In 2019, the casino invested in a new sportsbook, additional hotel rooms and an expansion of its recreational vehicle park , which accounted for a total figure of $10 million.
