California’s San Manuel Casino to hold a three-day job fair to fill 1K openings

an Manuel Casino is preparing to hold a three-day hiring event at its Ontario Mills Circle recruitment center at the Mills mall, August 14, 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event looks to fill more than 1,000 job openings for a new 432-room hotel and casino operations. 

The new 17-floor hotel is due to open in December and it is part of San Manuel’s $500 million expansion, which includes 1,500 new slot machines, a 24-hour restaurant, a dining venue and new retail shops. A 2,800 seat theater is expected to open early 2022. 

Openings are currently available for front-desk workers, reservation agents, retail employees, bell men, concierge workers, massage and spa-room specialists, housekeeping supervisors, in-room dining supervisors and pool attendants. 

Recruitment will continue throughout the year, and it will focus on cooks, cashiers, janitors, groundskeepers and a range of other positions. Housekeepers, cooks and chefs are eligible for a $1,000 welcome bonus in addition to other perks, as reported by the Orange County Register. 

Kenji Hall, the casino’s Chief Operating Officer spoke in a press release about the three-day job fair and said: “Between the hotel, spa and existing casino space, we’ll need to hire well over 1,000 people.The more people we can hire this weekend, the better.”

“With 6,000-plus employees we’re always hiring, I would say by the end of the year we’ll have hired about 3,000 people”, he added. 

Hall reflected on the expansion of the San Manuel’s property and said that it “ will allow our guests to be more relaxed and it will also extend our geography further out. If you live two hours away and come here you wouldn’t want to drive two hours to get home. This will be a nice getaway — a kind of staycation. And we’ll have some big-name entertainers coming to our theater”.

Jasmine Takeshita, San Manuel’s talent acquisition director, elaborated on the hiring opportunities: “We are welcoming beauty school graduates to apply for spa and cosmetology positions. We’re doing well considering this unique environment, but it’s more challenging to fill our entry-level positions”.

Each of the three days will feature a hotel and spa experience for applicants and guests, including a sampling of the beauty salon, fitness, massage and skin-care services the resort will provide.
