nformation and protection of personal data is the greatest concern of Argentineans when gambling online, a study carried out by Playtech and Toluna consultancy shows, in which they interviewed more than 2,000 people from four countries, out of which, in the case of Argentina, 40% identified cybersecurity issues as fundamental.
“This study has revealed that having access to information and tools on the protection of players, as well as having better local regulations to protect personal data, is considered one of the most important factors for Argentineans to feel safe at the time of making bets online: cited by 41% and 42% of respondents respectively, “they highlighted in a press release where they presented the results of the study.
The fieldwork consisted of 2,112 interviews in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia, the four largest and most active markets in South America. It evaluated current attitudes towards gambling, risk factors, consumer confidence in regulation and self-regulation, while also analyzing the main concerns and barriers of potential players in the region.
The reality of the country of tango is very different from the other countries since its regulations are exclusively provincial. More than half (52.3%) haven’t placed any bets online in the last six months. The results suggest that operators will need to adopt new measures to guarantee player protection and responsible gaming, ensuring that these objectives are clearly communicated to the general public.
“The data from this survey highlights the importance of implementing appropriate and standardized player protection measures, as well as a focus on responsible gaming for the industry in general, as state regulation advances across the country,” stated the Director of Playtech policies, Francesco Rodano.
The lack of knowledge of how to bet and how to do it in a restrained manner was the main barrier for Argentineans, as 22% pointed out. The results suggest a knowledge gap regarding online gambling and the available protection resources to players.
“At this point, the industry needs to place a greater emphasis on safer gambling participation and data analytics in order to support and protect new customers online. Playtech is committed to addressing the main concerns of this important study, to provide a higher level of expertise and data analysis tools making the participation of gambling players more secure, in order to support and protect new online customers, or anyone who experiences a greater vulnerability in their behavior or high-risk patterns,” said Rodano.
