The inauguration of Gaming & Technology GAT Expo 2022 took place at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center with an opening ceremony led by the Coljuegos’ president, César Valencia Galiano.
Valencia Galiano highlighted that “in 2021, COP$ 613,526 million (US$ 160.8 million) was collected from the profits of the monopoly of games of chance administered by Coljuegos, for the exploitation rights of national games, which represented an increase of 65.39% compared to 2020, when an amount of COP$ 370,966 million (US$ 97.2 million) was collected”.
Likewise, he assured that “the current positive momentum of our industry allows us to benchmark bets of 45 billion pesos for 2021, a figure well above the one registered in 2019 when the effects of the pandemic had not yet been felt”.
During GAT Expo, which has more than 1,000 visitors from 25 countries, the International Business and Regulation Roundtable was held yesterday at the Claustro de las Animas of the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center, an event promoted by Fecoljuegos with the participation of leading jurists from Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Spain, and Colombia, to advise on current regulations and the prospects for new regulations in their countries as well as in the region.
Valencia Galiano stated that “in 2022, it will be six years since online gaming was regulated in Colombia. We are aware of the competitive advantage in the region, and this is due to the fact that we were pioneers in regulating this gaming modality. However, we must not stop there, our commitment must be greater and greater. As an entity we have set ourselves the goal of constantly reviewing the regulations, so that we can expand our portfolio, establishing conditions that allow us to optimize performance and be at the forefront of online gambling in the world”.
The equipment exhibition was opened to the public at 2 pm yesterday, Wednesday 16. Also as part of the event, and taking into account the phenomenon of eSports, activities, and competitions will be held within the framework of GAT Expo, which will give the opportunity to representatives of the sector to learn more about this entertainment industry. The expo, set to last until Thursday 17, will host a live exhibition with two professional teams of Valorant eSports, as they seek to move up the Valorant competitive ladder.
“It will also be possible to enjoy live exhibitions with casters or expert commentators, who will bring the excitement of international leagues to GAT Expo and demonstrate how betting is done in esports,” stated representatives of the event.
