Less than a month after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a new gaming compact with the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi Yokut Tribe, the tribe’s Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore, California, said it will host an official ribbon-cutting, grand opening ceremony for a new High Limit Room on Wednesday, June 22.
Located on the third floor of the casino, the High Limit Room includes exclusive new games on 80 high limit betting slot machines with denominations of up to $25.00, customized oversized chairs, 12 65” televisions throughout the space, dedicated restrooms, and food and beverage servers with extensive menus. The casino said that the fully customized room is designed with an Art Deco flair, featuring specialty wallpapers and carpets, along with “intricate details and an opulent touch” covering the almost 5000 square foot space “in a 1920’s style.”
The announcement comes weeks after Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 900 into law, ratifying gaming compacts between the state of California and two tribes —the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi Yokut Tribe, and the Middletown Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians. These compacts were agreed upon in March this year.
The new law classifies the two compacts as non-projects for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which ordinarily requires that developments undergo detailed environmental reviews that can invite public scrutiny, as reported by The Bakersfield Californian.
Tachi Palace first opened as Southgate Bingo Palace in 1983. The tribe took over the operation of the bingo hall in 1994 and expanded its offerings, and renamed it to its current title in 2005. In late April this year, Tachi Palace Casino announced a variety of upgrades and renovations to the gaming floor, food court, and other areas. New tabletop slot games on the third floor overlook the main gaming floor, with a server walkway for beverages, and bingo returned to Tachi Palace in their new facility called the Yokut Hall, which will seat up to 1200 players.
