The New Jersey Lottery has proposed an amendment to a rule that states that lottery courier service websites and mobile applications can only sell Lottery-authorized games. The suggested change would allow lottery couriers applications to offer internet and mobile gaming, as well as online sports wagering, through a shared or separate wallet.

Additionally, the NJ Lottery has published a notice of a new rule. The proposal would allow the Division of Lottery to directly sell Lottery tickets for draw-based games through its website and mobile applications to consumers in the state, the Lottery informed.

The first rule proposal seeks to amend N.J.A.C. 17:20-12.6, while the second proposal calls for the establishment of a new rule, N.J.A.C. 17:20-1.5. The Lottery remarked that only registered courier services are legally authorized to operate in New Jersey.

The New Jersey Lottery has now published both rules for stakeholders to comment, as required by law. The notices have been published in the New Jersey Register, the Star Ledger, on the Department of the Treasury website and on the public notice section of the Division’s own website.

Interested persons are afforded the opportunity to submit written comments on the proposed rule changes,” the New Jersey Lottery noted.
