Station Casinos announced Tuesday that a new Wildfire Casino is slated to open in the Fremont area in downtown Las Vegas in early February. The destination is expected to offer guests “a plethora” of gaming options, an STN Sportsbook and restaurants IHOP and Tacos El Pastor. Crews were spotted installing exterior signage on the building Tuesday.

Joel Hampe, General Manager and Vice President of Wildfire Gaming, stated: “This Wildfire, just like all Wildfire properties, is going to be a great addition to the neighborhood, and everyone who walks through the doors will enjoy the friendly environment of this new neighborhood casino,” as reported by FOX5.
Hampe also added that the property will offer guests “a new and elevated experience that they will love.”
Station Casinos operates seven Wildfire-branded properties in addition to Red Rock Resort and other hotel-casinos. The Wildfire on Rancho Drive near Lake Mead Boulevard boasts 150 slot machines, a restaurant and a sportsbook.

The Fremont location will be updated with “new creature comforts,” including 200 slot machines, bar-top and electronic table games, 16 TVs around the bar, and more.
“The brand has been idle for a little while with the look and feel, and we wanted to give the guests a new, elevated experience from what they were used to,” Hampe stated, as reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal, and pointed out that part of that includes the brand recognition gained from the food partners and the Station Casinos’ Boarding Pass loyalty program.
These are not the only changes in the east Las Vegas neighborhood impulsed by Station Casinos. The company bought the former Castaways site in 2004 and ultimately demolished the hotel. It sold some of the land to developers who built a 344-unit apartment complex, a mini storage facility and a building that the Southern Nevada Health District plans to occupy.
As reported by Review-Journal, Hampe stated that Station has had the land for quite some time. “We continually evaluate what we have going on, where we’re building and where our plans are going to go,” he noted. “With the apartments being built and all the businesses that are increasing over there, we thought it was a good time that we wanted to join in and continue to make those improvements to that neighborhood.”
It is expected that Wildfire will hire about 45 full and part-time positions for the east Fremont location at 2700 Fremont St., in December.
The company is currently building another property, the Durango Casino & Resort in the southwest valley, which is expected to open in Fall 2023. The $750 million project was topped off in October and crews continue to work on the completion of the 15-story, 318-foot tower.
Work on the project began earlier this year and has progressed quickly, the company said in a new statement, Over 1,200 full-time permanent positions will be filled upon completion of the property.
A private ceremonial groundbreaking for Durango Casino & Resort was held in March, marking the start of work on the new resort. The venue will feature a 200-room hotel tower and an 83,000-square-foot casino. Gaming options are set to include about 2,000 slot machines and 46 table games.
