MGM Resorts International announced Wednesday it has been recognized for leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change and water security by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on the organization’s annual A List.
“MGM Resorts is focused on creating a more environmentally sustainable future, recognizing that climate change presents significant risks and opportunities to business, people and the planet,” the company said in a press release.
Jyoti Chopra, Chief People, Inclusion and Sustainability Officer at MGM Resorts, said: “This marketplace recognition by CDP is a reflection of our ongoing strategic prioritization of sustainability across our business operations and supply chain.”
“We are fiercely committed to corporate environmental leadership and continuing our efforts around water stewardship and the fight against climate change,” Chopra added.
Based on data reported through CDP’s 2022 Climate Change and Water Security questionnaires, MGM Resorts is one of the 57 companies to achieve a double A rating on climate change and water security, out of more than 15,000 scored.
A detailed and independent methodology is used by CDP to assess companies, explains MGM, allocating a score of A to D-minus, based on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks, and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets. Those who do not disclose or provided insufficient information are scored an F.
