According to data from the National Database for Restricted Persons (NDRP) published this week by the Philippines’ casino regulator, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR), player exclusion requests for 2022 totaled 333, up 61.7% year-over-year. The figure is the third-highest on record after 2018 recorded 448 and 2017 recorded 447 cases of player exclusion.
According to the data, there were 157 applications for self-exclusion in the 12 months to December 31, compared to 94 such requests in 2021. Additionally, 176 individuals were excluded due to applications made by family members, while in the previous year there had been 112 such applications.
Currently, some 770 player exclusions are in place in the nation, according to PAGCOR’s report, while 598 expired in 2022, the highest yearly figure on record, with the previous highest being 314, registered in 2018. The NDRP is a computerized database listing those restricted from playing in the country’s gaming establishments, which are operated and regulated by PAGCOR.
The gaming regulator said the player exclusion program is to “provide patrons who feel that relatives or [they] themselves are developing a problem with gambling,” with the option of being barred “from all gaming venues or sites.”
Since data on the exclusion of people from casinos was first compiled in September 2013, a total of 2,532 requests for exclusion have been submitted to the local authorities.
