NFL owners are set to vote on allowing in-stadium sportsbooks to stay open on game days. The move comes as the NFL continues to embrace sports gambling, and owners are expected to approve keeping the facilities working during home matches at a league meeting taking place today.
The league has already allowed sportsbooks to operate inside NFL stadiums although the current rules require the amenities to be closed on game day. However, that would no longer be the case if owners vote to adopt the proposed rule change.

Although for decades the NFL sought to distance itself from gambling, in recent years the league has seen legalized sports betting as a major source of revenue and fan interest. While betting on games remains off-limits for players, fans now find it increasingly easier to gamble on their favorite teams as the practice keeps expanding in the US.
The Arizona Cardinals became the first NFL club to have a sportsbook in their home stadium ahead of the 2021 season when the franchise reached an agreement with BetMGM to become the team’s official sportsbook partner. As more states legalize sports betting, the addition of physical books in stadiums could further rise, in particular if the proposed amendment is approved.
