Events company SBC has announced the addition of a new gaming expo to its portfolio, SBC Summit Rio, sparked by growing “industry demand.” The conference and exhibition will take place on March 5-7, 2024, at Windsor Barra Hotel, and SBC says it will serve “as a pivotal gathering for the key industry stakeholders in Brazil.”

“With a population of 217 million and strong internet penetration, Brazil presents a significant market opportunity for the gambling industry,” highlighted SBC. “Despite the prolonged wait for regulation and operating licenses, optimism about the immense potential of the Brazilian market remains steadfast.”

The strategic choice to launch this new event in Rio de Janeiro is backed “by extensive discussions with industry stakeholders,” who SBC says believe the event’s presence in Brazil will help bolster their expansion endeavors within the growing market.

As a Brazilian-focused operator, actively expanding our presence in the region and supporting local clubs, having a dedicated event for Brazil is beyond exciting. And with SBC behind it, the event becomes even more priceless. This is all perfectly aligned with our company’s current focus,” said Fellipe Fraga, Chief Business Officer, EstrelaBet.

The event promises a focus on regulations, localized product offerings, operator-media relationships, sports integrity, data rights, and sponsorship, and aims to bring together locally-based and international senior executives with valuable insights into the Brazilian market.

By attending the gathering, the event organizer says participants will gain “unparalleled knowledge” from industry speakers representing diverse perspectives, empowering them to make informed decisions in this evolving market.

Simon Hovmand-Stilling, CEO of Better Collective South America, said: “It’s truly fantastic news to have a dedicated event exclusively for Brazil, which we perceive as one of the most significant market opportunities for Better Collective […] SBC Summit Rio grants us an invaluable opportunity to delve into the intricacies of this market.”

The event is designed for decision-makers from operators, affiliates, sports clubs, regulatory bodies, and other key industry stakeholders, including industry associations and media. The show also extends its reach to “non-endemic brands,” offering a platform for marketing service providers, digital solution providers, financial service providers, and others whose products and services also impact the industry.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO & Founder of SBC, said: “Our engagement with the Brazilian market is far from new. In 2022, SBC made a significant impact in São Paulo by hosting The Brazil Football Expo in partnership with the Brazilian Football Confederation. Moreover, earlier this year, we launched the SBC Notícias Brasil news platform as the magnitude of opportunities in this market cannot be overlooked.”

The Rio event has been consistently emphasized as an exceptional opportunity throughout numerous discussions we’ve had with our clients. We are excited to offer a robust platform for industry professionals to actively engage and exchange best practices, particularly as the regulatory landscape draws near.”

Thus far this year, SBC has already organized a series of international industry events, including SBC Summit North America, CasinoBeats Summit, and the Canadian Gaming Summit. Additionally, SBC has more events planned for the months ahead, including SBC Summit Barcelona, the SBC Summit Latinoamérica, and SBC Summit Tbilisi.

Adam Azor, EVP of Global Marketing of Sportradar, said: “We have had the pleasure of attending various SBC Events in different capacities, and each experience has been exceptionally smooth […] Given that Brazil is a growth market for betting, it’s a positive move that SBC has responded to industry demand to organize an event in Rio. We look forward to taking part in the new show.”

SBC’s track record includes the Betting on Sports Europe event and what it calls an “unmatched expertise and a vast database” of sports betting-focused businesses. In a press statement, the events company said it will leverage this network for the Rio event, attracting sports teams, leagues, and associations that are “highly relevant in the Brazilian market.”
