For its 2023 edition, the upcoming SiGMA Balkans & CIS Summit, to take place September 4-7, moves to Cyprus’ southern coast city of Limassol for what promises to be a can’t-miss gaming industry event gathering major stakeholders in this growing market.
Held in Serbia last year, the event now relocates to the recently opened City of Dreams Mediterranean, billed as Europe’s first integrated resort, for a meeting that will bring together operators, leading affiliates, renowned speakers, and panels of experts to discuss latest trends and solutions gaining momentum in the region.
iGaming platform provider Soft2Bet is set to play a central role in the event, acting as partner and sponsor of SiGMA Balkans & CIS. As part of its busy schedule for the expo, the company will sponsor the SiGMA Balkans & CIS Closing Night party, see its experts participate in a number of panel sessions, and showcase its latest solutions at Stand 051.
Ahead of the summit, Yogonet caught up with Soft2Bet to discuss its plans for SiGMA Balkans & CIS and the region at large. Additionally, in this exclusive interview, Lisa Isaksson, Head of Regulatory and Compliance, talks about the company’s approach to responsible gaming and the importance of keeping up with regulatory changes.
Soft2Bet is partnering with SiGMA Balkans & CIS to bring the event to Cyprus for the first time ever. What can you tell us about this summit, and why should attendees not miss it?
The SiGMA Balkans & CIS event will be a game-changer, especially since it’s in Cyprus for the first time. Think of it as a hub where you can get a lot of industry wisdom, make great contacts, and have a good time too.
Soft2Bet is in the thick of it all, helping to make sure the event is extra special. You’ll hear from some of our key people, including myself, talking about the hot topics in our industry.
Speaking of your specific role at the event, you will be discussing responsible gaming regulation at one of the SiGMA Balkans & CIS panels. Can you provide us with some insights on what you will focus on for your speech?
I will be participating in the panel discussion along with David Yatom Hay, our General Counsel, talking about the ins and outs of responsible gaming, sharing our insights from our many years of experience within the industry and from working alongside Soft2Bet. The idea is to provide accurate, actionable insights into how to handle the rules and still make the iGaming business thrive.
Responsible gaming regulation will be discussed from “a global perspective.” What does this concept entail?
When we say “global perspective,” we mean looking at the big picture. Sure, each geography has its own set of rules, but there are common themes in regulatory efforts reflected in local features and peculiarities.
A global view of these processes allows us to see many trends and often predict where it’s going before some things become official. The shared common global goal should always be to protect players, and offer online games in a safe environment.
Are regulations evolving and adapting to the new technologies and trends we see within the gambling sector, or are they lagging behind?
Regulation and policymakers often struggle to keep up the pace with new technology and not just in iGaming. Think blockchain and AI; regulation and policymakers are still catching up. For businesses, the key is to stay agile. Keep an eye on tech trends, be prepared to adapt, and always keep the well-being of your players at the center.
Soft2Bet will be showcasing its latest products and solutions at the expo. How does the company, specifically, leverage responsible gaming features within its portfolio?
Responsible gaming is a core pillar here at Soft2Bet and is well integrated into every product we offer. We’re committed to making gaming safe and enjoyable for everyone. We make sure to keep on top of regulation as well as communicate with regulators, providers, and operators to continue improving, staying ahead of the game, and ready for what’s next.
