With only about a month to go before a new G2E Las Vegas starts, companies from the US and all over the world gear up to return to the gambling mecca for what promises to be the expo’s busiest edition since the end of the pandemic. More than 350 exhibitors and participating companies are expected this time around, and attendees will be able to enjoy a wider array of features, from a new iGaming Zone to the expanded G2E Networking Lounge and G2E’s most insightful education program yet.
Ahead of the event’s return, Yogonet caught up with Korbi Carrison, Event Vice President, G2E at RX USA. In this exclusive interview, Carrison discusses G2E 2023’s key features and highlights, which topics driving the industry will be reflected at the expo floor and the panels, and why the Global Gaming Expo is, yet again, a can’t-miss event for stakeholders in the gambling industry.
How are demand and registration advancing ahead of October’s edition? With the pandemic in the rearview mirror and the US land-based sector seeing record figures, do you expect G2E to surpass pre-pandemic attendance levels this time around?
Across the country, it’s clear gaming’s recovery from COVID-19 has been successful. Gaming destinations like Las Vegas have seen record visitation, and operators nationwide have seen record revenue. G2E will reflect our industry’s momentum and excitement for what’s to come.
The response to G2E 2023 reflects the resiliency of the gaming industry. We continue receiving positive responses, and initial numbers reflect that sentiment. While we can’t predict final numbers yet, we expect more than 350 exhibitors and participating companies, and our expo hall size will be the largest in the post-pandemic era.
G2E will be updating its brand for the 2023 edition. What led to this move and how will this change reflect the event’s commitment to the industry?
With gaming returning stronger than ever, the time was right to reinvigorate and modernize G2E’s look and feel. G2E’s new brand reflects the growing gaming ecosystem and positions us to convene the entire gaming community meaningfully this October and beyond.
With new technologies hitting the market and the gaming industry evolving at a record pace, which innovations do you expect to take center space during this edition? Will G2E reflect the growing interest in developments such as AI, metaverse, etc.?
These topics, and more, will lead many of the conversations both on and off the expo hall floor, especially when it comes to AI’s potential impact on the industry. You can also expect lots of conversations surrounding iGaming.
The all-new iGaming Zone at G2E will bring together iGaming solution providers in a focused location that serves as the beginning of the iGaming journey at G2E. From here, visitors can continue on to our mainstay exhibitors who are innovating in iGaming, traditional land-based, and more. Robust conversations will also occur in the conference program and The Lab in the Expo Hall.
With the gambling industry constantly evolving and more globalized than ever before, has the profile of G2E’s visitors and attendees changed over the last few years? Do you expect a different expo floor from that of 2022’s edition?
Over 100 countries and regions are represented on the show floor, and we are always thrilled to have a global presence at G2E. We expect to have our most international attendance yet in the post-pandemic era this year, and we look forward to welcoming stakeholders from Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and beyond.
G2E 2023’s education program was described earlier this year as the event’s “most insightful yet.” What are some of the program’s highlights? What topics driving the industry’s agenda will be part of the sessions?
Every year, we evaluate our education sessions to ensure our topics and speakers reflect where the gaming industry is today and where it will be tomorrow. This year’s show will feature dynamic conversations on important topics in the industry, including combating the unregulated market, iGaming, sports betting, Tribal gaming, regulatory developments, AI, and more. Our website contains full information for each of our sessions to help attendees and exhibitors with their G2E experience.
G2E 2022's halls saw the return of international visitors
Given the growth iGaming has seen in the US over the past year, what will the presence of this vertical be like at the expo? What can you tell us about G2E’s new iGaming Zone, which you mentioned before, and the features it offers to attendees?
The all-new iGaming Zone at G2E will bring together iGaming exhibitors in one location to explore the future of the online casino space, allowing attendees, exhibitors, and members of the media easy access to the latest and greatest in the iGaming vertical.
Visitors should explore the all-new G2E Guides to plan their journey specific to iGaming and other topic areas on the G2E website.
Other remarkable spaces of this edition include the Lab and the expanded G2E Networking Lounge. What are their main features, and how will attendees benefit from visiting them? What are some other highlights and hall activations of G2E 2023?
Open to all visitors, The Lab will serve as a hub for thought leadership that explores the future of gaming and encourages connection around emerging tech topics. Activities include quick-hitting presentations on new technologies and recordings from some of the industry’s favorite podcasters.
The expanded G2E Networking Lounge will provide unique networking opportunities like coffee breaks, happy hours, and designated industry group meet-ups, allowing attendees to connect with their peers and form long-lasting relationships after the expo. Schedules for these activations and other special events are available on globalgamingexpo.com.
