Google will now accept and run sports betting ads in Delaware for eligible advertisers, as a result of an update on January 4 to Google Ads‘ gambling and games policy for the United States. The eligible advertisers who want to run sports betting ads in Delaware will need to apply for accreditation.
To obtain certification, operators will be required to follow a set of steps if they meet Google’s policy and country-specific requirements. The certification process includes verifying the advertiser’s legal compliance and adherence to Google’s advertising policies.
Privately licensed operators are required to fill out an online gambling application form in the Google Ads Help Center. Meanwhile, state-run entities will have to fill out a different form, filling the ‘Summary of the issue’ section, where they will have to provide their website URL, campaign name, and ad group name.
Meanwhile, social casino game operators can submit their website URL or app, Google Ads customer ID, and the country group that they are targeting.
A separate application form needs to be filled out for each country the operator wants to target.
Delaware is the 29th state in the US to embrace digital sports betting since the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA). In August 2023, Rush Street Interactive assumed the role of the Delaware State Lottery’s official vendor for online gaming. Meanwhile, BetRivers stands as the exclusive operational legal sports betting app in Delaware.
Earlier this month, Delaware marked a new gambling milestone as BetRivers’ mobile sportsbook went live in the state. While Delaware’s legal retail sports betting began in June 2018, the state now embraces mobile wagering with the introduction of BetRivers’ betting app, accessible both on iOS and Android.
