The upcoming ICE London 2024, set to take place on February 6th-8th at the Excel exhibition center, is set to feature a dedicated Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ). As informed by the organizers of the event, leading industry brands have pledged a total of £31,000 ($39,380) as part of their support of the CPZ.

The sum, which will be donated to a safer gambling charity revealed during the donation ceremony on the first day of ICE London, has been raised with the help of Flutter, Betsson Group, IGT, Novomatic, Neccton, and Playtech. In total, £228,000 ($289,449) has been raised by CPZ supporters over the last four years.

Since its launch in 2018, the CPZ has grown in both size and status to the extent that post-show research has confirmed it as the most popular ICE feature by show visitors. The 2024 edition of the Consumer Protection Zone comprises 20 booths showcasing technology and solutions providers alongside leading safer gambling charities.

Ewa Bakun, Clarion Gaming’s Director of Industry Insight and Engagement, said: “I’m extremely proud that ICE was the first industry event to grasp the central importance of safer gambling and include a dedicated zone in a prominent position on the show floor.”

“CPZ supporters continue their magnificent fundraising on behalf of safer gambling charities and we are edging closer to our target of £40,000 and in the process bid farewell to London in style ahead of our 2025 relocation to Barcelona,” she noted.

According to Bakun, the Consumer Protection Zone represents the meeting point for discussions about progress in the areas of player and industry sustainability, attracting operators, regulators, academics, charities, and providers of solutions, products, and technologies, “all with a shared vision to make gambling safer.”

“This year’s CPZ will have a sharp focus on effective player interactions and the development of sustainable play where players’ health is seen as a commercial prerogative,” she added.

For her part, Lisa O’Connor, Head of Safer Gambling Strategy at Flutter UK&I, commented: “The Consumer Protection Zone at ICE is a fantastic place to learn, share insights, and develop networks in the Safer Gambling space.

It’s so important that we have forums such as this to continue discussions amongst all vested parties around how we push and innovate to create the safest possible experiences for our customers.”
