The Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel and Convention Center hosted yesterday the opening of the thirty-second edition of SAGSE in Argentina. The event, which is expected to attract more than 2,500 visitors during the two days, was attended by the main referents of the gaming industry in Latin America.

After opening remarks by Alan Burak, Vice President of Monografie, the SAGSE X conference cycle began, with exhibitors from all over the region telling success stories and new proposals for the future of the sector.

Sofía Muñoz, Senior Sales Manager of Similarweb, was in charge of opening the cycle with her talk “Traffic acquisition strategies for the online gaming industry in Latin America”. Then it was time for Ida Lopez, President of the Provincial Institute of Gaming and Casinos of Mendoza, who presented the successful case of the Argentinean province in terms of both land-based and online gaming.

Then, a small “tour” of the continent began, with a first stop in Chile by Rodrigo Romo Labisch, Superintendent of Chile, and Cecilia Valdes, President of the Chilean Association of Gaming Casinos (ACCJ). The next stop was Colombia, where the President of Colombia’s trade association (FECOLJUEGOS), Evert Montero Cárdenas, spoke about the actions of his association in Colombia.

When it was Peru’s turn, and after a heartfelt tribute to Manuel San Román Benavente, ex-director of Casino Games and Slot Machines of Peru who recently passed away, Gonzalo Pérez from Apuesta Total and Tomás E. García Botta from MF Estudio made an analysis of the Inca country with the talk “Peru: what is the current situation, requirements and what are the expectations”.

Later, Carlos Liseras, President of the National Gaming Commission of Paraguay (CONAJZAR), took the stage and during his first participation in SAGSE in that position, in addition to a general overview of the gaming situation in his country, he explained several projects for the future. Among them, the project for a new gaming law stands out, as well as the future bidding of seven casinos in Paraguayan lands.

The “Latin American tour” of speakers took a short break with the intervention of Diego Fernández, Ad Tech Director of Pipol Hub, with his talk “Optimize your Investment and Reduce your CPA in real-time with MÍA: The Power of AI in action”. Next, the Uruguayan representative, Gustavo Anselmi, General Director of Casinos of Uruguay, gave a detailed description of the role of the state as regulator and operator in his country.

With great expectations concerning the regulation process that the country is going through, came the speakers from Brazil. In this case, Valter Delfraro Junior from GLI Latin America & Caribbean; Caroline Torres, Commercial Analyst from Pay4Fun; and André Vinicius Alencar Alves from Control F5 took the microphone. The three of them discussed the certification process and financial analysis, as well as the functioning of the Brazilian market from the marketing point of view.

To close the tour of the different Latin American jurisdictions, Jesús Acevedo, President of the Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA) and Ezequiel Domínguez, lawyer of the institution, as well as Agustín Li Gambi, President of the Legal Affairs Commission of the Argentine State Lottery Association (ALEA), took the stage.

Under the moderation of Héctor D’Amico, LOTBA auditor, the talk “The approach to illegal gambling: interaction between regulator, justice and operators” analyzed the measures and preventive measures taken to combat this problem.

The closing of the SAGSE X conference cycle was in charge of Francisco Lorenzo, Brand Director of Club Atlético River Plate, who under the moderation of Patricio Baigorrotegui, Director & co-founder of Good Morning Sports/ SPORTBIZ EUROPE/LATAM, analyzed the River Plate case.

After the presentations, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held and the exhibition hall was opened to the general public, who crowded the corridors of the exhibition hall visiting the stands of the participating companies.

Furthermore, to close the first day of SAGSE Latam 2024, a new edition of the Grand Gaming Gala was held last night, an exclusive event at the Palermo Racetrack attended by some 200 guests, which included a horse race sponsored by SAGSE’s main exhibiting companies. The party included live music and an excellent catering service.

This Thursday the exhibition will continue to be open at the Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel and Convention Center, where companies will exhibit their latest innovations for the land-based and online gaming industry.
