Sports betting and iGaming operator BetMGM has entered into an agreement with the Associated Press (AP) to become the official sports odds provider across AP’s global sports report, both organizations announced Thursday.

This partnership will see BetMGM’s odds integrated into the news organization’s daily sports odds fixtures, game previews, and other sports-related stories where betting odds are relevant.

People want trustworthy sports betting information, and we are pleased to work with BetMGM to provide a dependable and credible reference point for our customers and audiences,” said Barry Bedlan, AP’s Director of Global Text and Commercial Products. AP will maintain editorial control over all its content, ensuring unbiased reporting.

AP has been providing sports-betting lines to its customers and audience for more than 30 years and selects an odds provider to help provide consistency in its reporting, Bedlan said.

BetMGM’s Chief Revenue Officer, Matt Prevost, stated: “It is a special opportunity for BetMGM to align with The Associated Press, a leading global news source that billions around the world rely on for the most up-to-date coverage. Being a trusted resource within that forum is an important connection to expand our reach, and we look forward to providing content that enhances the organization’s coverage.”

This agreement marks BetMGM’s takeover from FanDuel, which previously held an exclusive partnership with AP until its expiration this year. The collaboration with AP is expected to significantly expand BetMGM’s visibility, given the organization’s vast audience reach, which averaged approximately 44.2 million monthly users in 2023.

BetMGM has been actively expanding its strategic partnerships. In February, the operator announced a collaboration with X, formerly known as Twitter.

This first-of-its-kind deal makes BetMGM the exclusive live odds provider on the social media platform, integrating odds into X’s interface with direct links to BetMGM’s app and website. As of April 2024, X has more than 550 million active monthly users, according to data from Exploding Topics.

BetMGM has also teamed up with Marriott Bonvoy to offer a unique rewards program, further enhancing its portfolio of partnerships. Operating in 29 North American markets, BetMGM’s mobile app is accessible on both major operating systems and its website, betmgm.com.
