A proposed hotel and residential complex in the City of Niagara Falls, featuring a casino, aims to become the city’s tallest structure, though it faces competition from other planned high-rise projects in the popular tourist destination.
Developer Hennepin Realty Holdings has filed plans with the City of Niagara Falls to construct a pair of 58-story towers at 6546 Fallsview Boulevard, currently the site of the Oakes Hotel, blogTO reported.
The current 21-story Oakes Hotel would be demolished to make way for a new complex featuring a hotel, residential units, a casino, offices, and banquet facilities. Additionally, a secondary site one block away, presently used for surface parking, would be redeveloped into a seven-story parking garage for the new complex.
Designed by architects Alliance of Toronto, the minimalist towers would reach 210.05 meters in height. They would include 1,140 hotel suites and 126 residential units, connected by a six-story podium with a central three-story atrium. The second level of the complex would feature restaurants and a gaming facility, with a fifth-level sky bridge linking the podium buildings. Amenities on the sixth floor would include a spa, fitness center, and pool.
If completed as planned, this development would surpass the current tallest building in Niagara Falls, the Hilton Niagara Falls North Tower. However, it faces competition from other proposed projects, including a 77-story tower at 5602 Robinson Street, a 72-story tower at 6605 Stanley Avenue, a complex with 60-story towers at 6880 Stanley Avenue, 56-story towers at 5383 Robinson Street, and 61- and 60-story towers at 5555 River Road, the report said.
