Illinois’ casino sector reported an increase in revenue for May 2024, with the state’s 15 casinos collectively generating $143.8 million during the month. This figure represents a 5.3% rise compared to April’s revenue of $136.6 million, and a 17.8% increase year-on-year.
The majority of this revenue, $107.2 million, was derived from electronic gaming devices, while table games contributed $36.6 million. Thirteen of the state’s 15 casinos saw their revenues grow month-on-month, highlighting a strong performance across the board.
Rivers Casino led the pack with $44.7 million in revenue, marking a 5.8 % increase. Bally’s Chicago followed with a 10.6 % jump, bringing in $12.7 million. Grand Victoria Casino placed third, despite a decline of 2.3 %, with revenues of $12.1 million.
Harrah’s Joliet Casino & Hotel experienced growth, with revenues up by 2.5 % to $10.5 million, while The Temporary by American Place reported a 3.8 % drop, resulting in revenue of $9.1 million.
In terms of percentage growth, Walkers Bluff Casino and DraftKings at Casino Queen both recorded the highest monthly revenue jumps at 15.3%. Hollywood Casino at Joliet followed with a 12.22 % increase. Collectively, the casinos contributed $27.3 million in state taxes for the month.
For the year to date, Illinois’ casinos have amassed over $689.4 million in revenue.
