Last week, the 21st edition of the Peru Gaming Show (PGS) was held at the Jockey Exhibition Center in Lima, with two successful days of conferences focused on online regulation. The event gathered over 8,000 visitors and 80 leading brands of the region.
Among them was BMM Testlabs, the gaming testing laboratory and product certification consultancy. During the meeting, Yogonet spoke with Carlos Nuñez del Prado, Service Delivery Manager of the company, who provided an overview of BMM’s position and growth in the Peruvian market, as well as the company’s prospects for the online sector.
At the beginning of the year, BMM received authorization from Mincetur as a testing and certification laboratory for the online gaming sector. What does this new milestone represent for the company?
The approval by Mincetur is a landmark moment for BMM Testlabs, as we are now one of the first labs approved to test and certify online games and sports betting programs in Peru.
We are very grateful to Mincetur for their confidence in BMM, and we’re eager to help launch Peru’s new digital gaming programs and ensure fair and secure entertainment for this newly regulated market.
Peru is an important and growing market for remote gaming and sports betting, in addition to Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and coming soon, Chile. We are thrilled to be able to test and certify every product for these markets and for every technical standard adopted by the regulators.
Based on this achievement, with what expectations BMM presented itself in the Peru Gaming Show 2024? What networking opportunities did the event offer, in particular with companies in the online sector?
The Peru Gaming Show is one of the most important trade shows in Latin America and one that is well-attended, so for BMM, it offered an ideal opportunity to present our global assessment and certification services. It was also an opportunity to learn about the latest news from various international manufacturers and, of course, to meet with our clients to discuss their new projects.
The company has been providing services to the physical casino sector in Peru for more than a decade. What advantage does this experience give BMM for the iGaming sector in the country?
Although the testing processes for retail and iGaming have their nuances, our presence in Peru for more than 16 years, with an established Latin America headquarters in Lima, allows us to understand the market firsthand, including the needs and challenges of our clients and the regulatory situations that may arise along the way.
How does BMM deal with the large number of regulatory standards in the different markets in Latam?
BMM has a dedicated technical and legal compliance team focused on analyzing and defining the strategies for the many different jurisdictions in Latin America. With local experts who have in-depth knowledge of the specific regulatory frameworks in Latin American countries, our team understands local laws, standards, and cultural specifics, ensuring that BMM’s services are tailored to meet the unique requirements of each market.
BMM continuously monitors changes in the regulatory environment and adapts its processes and strategies accordingly so that, in partnership with a strong relationship with all regulatory bodies across Latin America, we can help facilitate faster resolution and a deeper understanding of regulatory expectations. Most importantly, BMM can test and certify any gaming product in every gaming market anywhere in the world for every technical standard adopted by any gaming regulator.
How does the company help regulators, especially in new and emerging markets like Peru?
BMM provides regulators with expert guidance and consultation services, helping them understand the complexities of the industry and what is required to establish effective regulatory frameworks. This includes sharing best practices and insights from more mature markets. We also offer training programs and workshops for regulatory bodies to build their capacity and enhance their understanding of industry standards, compliance procedures, and enforcement mechanisms.
Additionally, RG24seven Virtual Training, a BMM Innovation Group Company, offers free-of-charge compliance-grade training on corporate social responsibility issues including responsible gaming, anti-money laundering, human trafficking awareness, and other important topics for global gaming industry employees. We have recently launched Spanish and Portuguese subtitles for certain courses, enhancing the support that we offer to the region; I encourage everyone in the Latin American gaming industry to take advantage of this exceptional training.
