The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement announced on Friday that total gaming revenue for May 2024 reached $510 million, marking an 8.3% increase from $470.9 million in May 2023. Year-to-date, total gaming revenue amounted to $2.57 billion, reflecting a 13.1% rise compared to the $2.27 billion reported in the same period last year.
While the total revenue surpassed the $470.9 million recorded in May last year, it was lower than the $511 million reported in April of this year, as per the data released.
Casino win for the nine properties was $239.1 million in May 2024, up 5.2% from $227.3 million in May 2023. The year-to-date casino win was $1.11 billion, essentially flat compared to the previous year’s figure.
Internet gaming win reported by casinos and their partners showed significant growth, totaling $192.1 million for May 2024, a 19.0% increase from $161.4 million in May 2023. For the year-to-date, Internet win reached $942.8 million, up 20.6% from $781.5 million in the prior year-to-date period.
Sports wagering gross revenue by casinos, racetracks, and their partners was $78.8 million for May 2024, a 4.2% decrease from $82.2 million in May 2023. However, the year-to-date total grew to $513.0 million, a 37.0% increase from $374.5 million reported in the same period last year.
In April, New Jersey’s casinos, horse tracks, and their online partners earned over $511 million from gamblers, a 10.4% increase from the previous year. The rise was largely driven by the state’s second-best month for internet gambling, which helped the state offset the decline it had in the land-based market.
