The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has announced updates to its notification process for adding new Game Providers, effective August 1, 2024. Licensees must now include additional documentation and information when submitting notifications through the Licensee Portal under the ‘Technical – Change in Game Type/Provider’ application.
The required documentation includes the updated Key Technical setup and Essential Components documentation, as well as the updated Specifications of the Gaming System documentation. Additionally, a Declaration must be provided by a Key Person or a Director of the Licensee.
This Declaration should cover the formal name of the Game Provider and the respective Authorisation Number, the services offered by the Game Provider including game types and verticals, any jackpot details including the type of jackpot and relevant policy, and a confirmation that relevant documentation, such as the Business Risk Assessment, has been updated if applicable.
For Licensees integrating with multiple Game Providers, a separate Declaration for each provider must be submitted. These Declarations should be uploaded to the Enclosures page within the same application and include any further pertinent information to be notified to the MGA. Applications missing the required information will be marked as ‘Incomplete’ and must be fully submitted within 60 days, or they will be automatically closed.
While agreements between Licensees and Game Providers are not required at the time of Declaration submission, the MGA reserves the right to request these agreements if necessary. If the integration with third-party game providers does not necessitate changes to the technical documentation or gaming system specifications, Licensees can submit a declaration attesting to this.
Licensees are also reminded to update their Business Risk Assessment whenever new game providers are added to assess and mitigate any additional risks.
