Virginia’s three operating casinos generated a combined $59.5 million in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) in June, according to the Virginia Lottery‘s latest report.
The state’s casinos, HR Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Caesars Virginia, contributed $10.7 million in state taxes from that revenue.
The revenue from slot machines totaled $44 million, while table games brought in $15.5 million.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth led at $25.9 million in AGR, while HR Bristol reported $14.4 million and Caesars Virginia $19.2 million.
The tax revenue is distributed among various funds and entities as mandated by Virginia law. The Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund received $85,700, the Family and Children’s Trust Fund $21,400, and $3.6 million was allocated to host cities or the Regional Improvement Commission (RIC) for Bristol. The remaining $7 million was deposited into the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
The Virginia Lottery Board approved casino licenses for HR Bristol in April 2022, Rivers Casino Portsmouth in November 2022, and Caesars Virginia in April 2023. Each casino began operations shortly after their respective approvals, contributing to the state’s growing gaming revenue.
