Bally Bet Sportsbook has officially launched in Maryland, following the reception of a mobile sports wagering license from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) on Monday. Maryland is the ninth state where Bally Bet is accessible and licensed to operate.

Sports bettors 21 years or older who are physically present in the Old Line State can now access the product. Those registering with a new account with the book qualify for its promotional welcome bonus, which is a Bet $50, Get $150 in bonus bets offer.

New Bally Bet Sportsbook Maryland customers must place a qualifying cash wager of at least $50 on any available online sports betting market, with minimum odds of -120 or greater (-110, +100, etc.) to receive $150 in bonus bets, win or lose, once their qualifying wager settles.

Before its official launch, Bally’s ran a controlled demonstration of the sportsbook book to MLGCC representatives, which included bringing in select customers to participate in its live in-game betting market to confirm it met state compliance requirements and that its systems functioned properly.

The operator launched its sportsbook in Maryland after going live in Massachusetts earlier this month. However, Bally Bet’s sports betting future remains somewhat unclear despite the recent expansion.

In the states where it operates, the operator has had difficulty increasing its market share. Out of the nine sports betting companies in New York, it is in the bottom three, and it will be challenging for the betting app to approach giants like DraftKings and FanDuel in Maryland.

The launch also comes as Rhode Island-based parent company Bally’s LLC experiences changes and eyes new opportunities. The company recently announced it has secured funding for its Chicago Casino and Hotel project in Chicago’s River West neighborhood next to the Chicago Riverwalk.

Bally’s also just announced plans to merge with Standard General’s affiliate Queen Casino & Entertainment, a regional operator that owns four casino properties. The deal is expected to close early in 2025, with this agreement subject to regulatory approval.
