On the heels of the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, where BIG Cyber exhibited its managed cybersecurity services and solutions in the BMM Innovation Group booth, Yogonet had a chance to catch up with Marzia Turrini, President, iGaming & Cybersecurity for the BMM Innovation Group.

Tell us what’s been happening at BIG Cyber as you conclude this year’s Global Gaming Expo.

BIG Cyber has had a busy year with excellent progress in our business. Among others, we attended ICE in London, the IGA show in Anaheim, and the OIGA show in Oklahoma, meeting with many operators and suppliers. We were a Title Sponsor of TribalNet’s Virtual Cybersecurity Summit and a Platinum Sponsor at TribalNet in Las Vegas, where we exhibited and connected with industry technology professionals.

We are also excited about our new partnership with Gaming & Leisure as an official G&< Business Partner and participated for the first time at the G&< Roundtable, an exclusive forum in North America for gaming and hospitality professionals. As for G2E, we had a productive show connecting with clients, colleagues, and partners from across the globe, and were especially busy introducing our client base to our risk management partner, Maxxsure Cyber Risk Management.

The response to our offerings was excellent. In addition to events, we’ve been working with clients to strengthen their cybersecurity posture by conducting annual penetration tests to help them identify and remediate their vulnerabilities. One of our most important partners, CYREBRO, which provides a 24/7 monitoring Security Operations Center (SOC), has recently teamed up with Google Cloud to deliver a faster, more precise MDR (Managed Detection and Response) solution. This is very exciting for us and our clients, as it shortens the time to identify and respond to potential threats and ultimately reduces business risk.

Why should business leaders and executive teams be concerned about cybersecurity? Isn’t it an IT issue?

Cybersecurity is far more than just an IT issue; it’s a critical business threat. Cyber risks can impact every aspect of an organization, from financial losses to reputational damage and business continuity. And the risks are plentiful. Cybersecurity is a top agenda item for board members. Effective cyber risk management requires the strategic insights and decisions that senior leadership can provide. Business leaders must take an active role in understanding the risks to ensure the overall resilience of their organization.

Why should executives and leadership be concerned about cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity has evolved into a leadership issue because the stakes are higher than ever. As mentioned earlier, business continuity, financial loss, and reputation are important to leadership. Executives can be held accountable for cyber incidents, facing personal fines and possibly even prison time. For example, in the case of Uber, an executive faced significant consequences for failing to properly handle a data breach.

This illustrates how cyber risk management goes beyond technical solutions – it involves buy-in from management, strategic oversight, and decision-making at the highest levels to protect an organization’s financial health, brand reputation, and operational continuity.

How does BIG Cyber approach cyber risk management?

At BIG Cyber, we recognize that there is no perfect cybersecurity solution. We believe it is only a matter of time before an organization is cyber breached. The question is not if, but when, and then what becomes critical is what you do about it. That’s where we can make a huge difference. Cyber risks are dynamic and constantly evolving, meaning a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work.

We help organizations establish a proactive cyber posture around risk, defense, and response, includes senior management and staff, and is customized to fit that organization’s capabilities. We also help ensure that cyber strategies are aligned with business budgets and ensure our clients’ resources are used in the most impactful way to lower their cyber risk and enhance their overall resilience.

Can you provide an example of how a business can minimize its cyber risk with BIG Cyber?

Very few companies in the world feel comfortable about their cyber defense of information and business security. The main reason is that it is not just an issue of technical measures implemented by their IT department. It is a whole-of-the-organization defense strategy. By engaging with BIG Cyber, we evolve any company’s approach by involving senior leadership to understand the risks the organization faces.

This allows the company to develop a comprehensive cyber risk management strategy that addresses people, processes, and technology, ensuring that all aspects of the organization are protected. As a result, the company can prevent potential breaches, minimize financial losses, and maintain a good reputation.

What steps should business leaders take to begin minimizing their cyber risk?

Business leaders should start by recognizing the importance of their role in cyber risk management and then engage with BIG Cyber to assess their current risk landscape. From there, they can develop a strategic plan that involves all stakeholders and addresses the entire cyber risk. Attending events like G2E and ICE and scheduling a meeting with our team can provide valuable insights and actionable steps to begin this transformation.

How can business leaders connect with BIG Cyber after G2E?

We encourage leaders to schedule a meeting with BIG Cyber to discuss their specific needs and explore how our expertise, including penetration testing services and solutions, can help them minimize their cyber risk. They can book a meeting by emailing [email protected].
