Rio Hotel & Casino, an iconic off-Strip property in Las Vegas, has officially joined the Destination by Hyatt brand following the completion of the first phase of its $340 million renovation. The deal positions the Rio as the largest Hyatt property globally by room count and the first Destination by Hyatt hotel in Nevada.
“Rio is an icon reborn, and its legacy and unique character live on. We are excited for our members and guests to discover the experiences that make Rio Las Vegas a standout destination for global travelers,” said Mike Waddell, Senior Vice President of Global Franchise Operations at Hyatt.
The initial phase of the overhaul has reimagined the resort’s 1,500-suite Ipanema Tower with a design inspired by the vibrant culture of Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, the property has introduced six new culinary destinations at the Canteen Food Hall, 220,000 square feet of renovated convention space, a reimagined pool district featuring four pools, and an upgraded casino floor with 500 new slot machines and 30 table games.
Notable additions include the Lapa Lounge, inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s Lapa neighborhood, and the Luckley Tavern & Grill, a casual dining venue. The resort’s exterior now features a programmable lighting design by famed lighting designers Chris Kuroda and Andrew Giffin.
The transformation is part of the new owner Dreamscape Companies‘ vision of offering “a vibrant and dynamic lifestyle experience at the intersection of affordability and indulgence,” according to officials.
Phase two of the renovation will focus on modernizing the Masquerade Tower and enhancing public spaces, aiming to deliver an improved guest experience.
Patrick Miller, President and CEO of Rio Hotel & Casino, said: “We’ve not only reenergized the resort’s design and experience, but we’ve proudly honored its legacy as a quintessential Las Vegas icon, providing World of Hyatt members and global travelers with even more ways to immerse themselves in our destination’s fun, energetic and eclectic atmosphere.”
As part of its integration into Hyatt’s portfolio, Rio now participates in the World of Hyatt loyalty program, offering members the opportunity to earn and redeem points, access waived resort fees on free night awards, and enjoy perks such as room upgrades.
To celebrate the milestone, Rio is offering promotions, including a Cyber Sale running through Dec. 9, 2024, with discounts of up to 25% for stays through April 2025. Additional offers include 50% off stays of two or more nights when booked through the resort’s website.
Located at 3700 W. Flamingo Road, the Rio is minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and less than a 15-minute drive from Harry Reid International Airport.
