Chile’s Superintendency of Gaming Casinos (SCJ) announced it has initiated a new process for the granting of a casino operation permit at the national level, from the quota that will be available after the expiration of the authorization that the company Rantrur S.A. has until May 2027.
The SCJ made official the opening of the bidding process through Exempt Resolution No. 913 of December 2, 2024. Through the following link, interested parties may access the technical bases, as well as the Gaming Casino Operation Bidding System (SOPO) and its user manual.
It should be noted that at the end of October, the entity presided over by Superintendent Vivien Villagrán informed that it had put an end to the evaluation of the two technical offers presented for the operation of a casino in the Castro commune, located in the Los Lagos Region, by rejecting the proposals presented by Inversiones y Turismo Chiloé S.A. and Rantrur S.A., applicant and renewer, respectively.
Meanwhile, the SCJ pointed out that now “the project preparation phase begins, for which those interested in applying for an operating permit have a period of 90 working days until the delivery of these at the hearing for the Presentation of Technical and Economic Offers.”
This hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the offices of the Superintendency, located at Morandé N°360, 4th floor, in Santiago, Chile.
Also, within ten working days, until December 23, there will be a period of consultation and request for clarifications to the technical bases, which may be made via email. The SCJ has 15 days to respond.
Finally, it was noted that “applicants may present projects in any municipality in the country”, bearing in mind the following restrictions: each region may have a maximum of three gaming casinos and a minimum of one; there may not be any casino in the Metropolitan Region; and these must always be at least 70 km. away from the nearest one, regardless of the region in which they are located.
