Casino gaming revenues in Virginia surged to a record $75 million in February, surpassing the previous high of $74.91 million set in December 2024, according to a report from the Virginia Lottery.
The latest figures highlight continued growth in the state’s gaming industry. Among the state’s three casinos, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol posted gains, generating more than $19.7 million in gaming revenue during February, a 6.5% increase from the $18.52 million reported in January.
Slot machines accounted for the bulk of the revenue, bringing in $16.43 million, compared to $15.15 million the previous month. Table games saw a slight dip, generating $3.31 million in February, down from $3.36 million in January.
The casino contributed $3.55 million in gaming tax revenues to Virginia, with $1.18 million allocated to the Regional Improvement Commission for distribution among 14 Southwest Virginia localities.
Over the first two months of 2025, Hard Rock Bristol reported $38.26 million in adjusted gaming revenue, a 50.5% increase from the $25.41 million generated by the temporary Bristol Casino during the same period in 2024. Tax revenues distributed to the region also grew by 50.6%, reaching $2.29 million compared to $1.52 million the prior year.
Since opening its permanent facility, Hard Rock Bristol has recorded nearly $59 million in adjusted gaming revenue over three full months, generating $10.6 million in gaming tax revenue.
Elsewhere in Virginia, Caesars Virginia in Danville reported $31.14 million in gaming revenue for February, reflecting a 9.1% rise from January’s total. Slot machines contributed $21.5 million, while table games accounted for $9.6 million. The casino generated $5.6 million in state gaming taxes, with $1.86 million directed to Danville.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth saw a slight decline in revenue, reporting $24.28 million in February, compared to $25.25 million in January. The casino earned $17.45 million from slot machines and $6.82 million from table games. It contributed $4.37 million in gaming taxes to the state, with $1.45 million returning to Portsmouth.
