The Judiciary of the City of Buenos Aires ordered the massive blocking of 72 online gambling platforms operating illegally in that Argentine jurisdiction. This is the second largest operation since September 2024, when more than 200 illegal sites were blocked.

According to the information provided by the authorities, the blocking was carried out as a result of an investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Gambling, in collaboration with the Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA), which “provided key information required to corroborate the operation of the clandestine platforms.”

In this regard, the President of LOTBA, Jesús Acevedo, stated: “We are the only authority that can grant legal authorizations to legally operate games of chance in the City of Buenos Aires.”

“This operation is added to the awareness and combat actions that we permanently promote to encourage Responsible Gaming and prevent child gambling,” the official highlighted.

The regulatory entity of the City of Buenos Aires pointed out that, from last year to date, it has already ordered the blocking of more than 330 illegal online gambling sites.

In addition, over 1,600 social network profiles and advertisements were blocked, and 48 celebrities and influencers who promoted illegal sites on their social networks were also reported.
