Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has imposed an immediate ban on Satoshi Gaming Group NV, ordering the Curaçao-based operator to cease all online gambling activities in Sweden.
The decision, announced on April 10, follows an investigation that found the company had been unlawfully targeting Swedish consumers through its Trustdice.win platform, despite lacking a local license.
According to Spelinspektionen, Trustdice.win was accessible to players in Sweden and featured Swedish-language terms and conditions and marketing content. The regulator concluded that these elements demonstrated a clear intent to serve the Swedish market without complying with the country’s licensing framework.
“Satoshi Gaming Group provides games in Sweden because the company’s website trustdice.win has terms and conditions for participation in games in Swedish, as well as policy documents, FAQs, and other information in Swedish. Furthermore, the company markets itself to Swedish consumers through affiliates,” the regulator stated.
Satoshi Gaming initially responded to regulatory scrutiny in February by asserting that it had blocked access to Swedish users. However, a subsequent investigation by Spelinspektionen revealed that while the site was inaccessible from the regulator’s own IP address, it remained available through alternative IPs.
After being informed of this, the operator pledged to implement further restrictions and remove all remaining Swedish-language content. Nevertheless, the regulator noted that no specific timeline was provided, and a follow-up inspection in April confirmed that the site was still operating in violation of Swedish gambling law.
As a result, Spelinspektionen issued a formal prohibition against the company, invoking provisions under Sweden’s Gambling Act. The decision, the regulator emphasized, was necessary to protect consumers and uphold gaming safety in the country.
“We consider that, in the interests of consumer protection and to guarantee gaming safety, it is important that the decision is complied with immediately,” Spelinspektionen said. “The decision shall therefore apply immediately.”
