Toronto-based theScore announced Tuesday that its mobile sportsbook casino and app, theScore Bet, is now available for download and is accepting pre-registration for patrons who want to wager in Ontario. The pre-registration process allows patrons to download and complete the necessary steps to safely and legally create an account with theScore Bet, which will start accepting wagers when the market officially kicks off on April 4.

Players can now pre-register by downloading theScore Bet on the App Store for iOS devices. It is available anywhere in Canada, but users must be 19+ and physically located in Ontario to wager.

Furthermore, to celebrate the launch of Ontario’s regulated market, the company is hosting an official “Home Opener” launch party for fans 19+ in Toronto on April 2-4.

TheScore Bet will start taking wagers on April 4, 2022, when Ontario’s sports betting and iGaming market opens for private operators.

TheScore Bet is registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) as an internet gaming Operator, and will operate in the province on behalf of and as agent for iGaming Ontario

In an official press release, CEO of theScore, John Levy, stated: “Millions of Ontarians already know and love theScore, and we are excited to introduce them to theScore Bet as part of our pre-registration roll out. We are ready and eager for the legal market to open on April 4 and look forward to showcasing our fully integrated media and betting experience”.

Along with theScore Bet, AGCO first confirmed licensed operators were Rivalry Corp and PointsBet. FansUnite, Rush Street Interactive and Kambi have recently joined the list. Bet365LeoVegas, and suppliers Inspired and Play’n GO were also recently added to the approvals list.

Israel-based 888 was granted a license right before GGPoker was approved to launch a WSOP.ca poker site in the province. So far, WSOP/GGPoker and 888 are the first two poker operators to receive such authorization.

The launch of the new online gaming market in Ontario was announced by iGaming Ontario and AGCO, in a joint effort that seeks to establish a new market that will help protect consumers and provide more choice.

Private gaming operators registered with the AGCO that have executed an operating agreement with iGO can begin offering their games to players in Ontario as from the launching date. Companies will operate gaming sites in the market on behalf of the province in accordance with these agreements.

Less than a month away from Ontario’s online gaming market launch, the province regulator has issued new guidance warning operators in the process of securing a license to cease unregulated activities when the market opens on April 4.

The Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) also recently announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), with the purpose of providing a framework for cooperation and coordination between both entities on betting and related integrity issues to protect the Ontario and wider Canadian market, sports, consumers and regulated betting operators from corrupt activities.
