arrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort project, which cost $250M, will add 83,000 square feet of convention space as well as 725 hotel rooms and a parking garage is expected to be finished this fall.
Initially anticipated to be a 2.5-year project from the groundbreaking on June 26, 2018, the completion met some roadblocks with the pandemic, according to abc 13News.
Brooks Robinson, regional senior vice president, and general manager of Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos commented: “We are thrilled to see this project come to completion and to be able to offer our guests new amenities and offerings. This expansion has been an integral component of our property and community’s growth and helps us further show that Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is truly a destination that is unlike any other in the Carolinas. When completed, the expansion will include:
- The Cherokee at Harrah’s Cherokee Resort: This marks the resort’s fourth hotel tower. The 19-story tower will feature 725 rooms and seven suites. A 50-seat lobby bar and lounge. It is located directly adjacent to the new convention center. The second floor of the hotel features its terrace pool.
- The Cherokee Convention Center: This new, three-level 83,000-square foot space for meetings and conventions will more than triple the current rentable convention space on the resort. It is highlighted by a 32,000-square-foot ballroom, it also features a pre-function ballroom, 26 meeting spaces, exhibition hall, and more.
- Wicked Weed Brewpub: It opened its doors in April. The 1,200-square-foot restaurant features a 36-seat main bar, a walk-up tasting bar, and a stage for live entertainment.
- The Book: It opened in March 2021. It holds a 90-foot ultra-high-definition screen, plush chairs with USB charging ports, and full beverage service.
- WSOP Poker Room: Having opened in September 2020, guests can enjoy the 34-table World Series of Poker (WSOP) Poker Room which offers eight-handed cash games. The non-smoking room features 85 spots and is open daily.
- Myst Bar: It opened in January, offers guests a traditional casino bar experience with a flare. The new location features both bar and lounge seating, along with high-definition TVs.
