Hospitality giant Hyatt has signed a lease agreement for the addition of a casino at its Hyatt Place Hotel property in Kathmandu, Nepal. City Hotel Limited, a company under Nepalese enterprise Golyan Group, has signed a deal with Sri Lanka’s Rank Holdings Entertainment for the operation of the gaming venue, Nepalese media reported on Wednesday.
Through the addition of the gaming space, Hyatt Place Hotel says it will be able to offer more services to its guests, thus enhancing their experience at the property. The hotel is described as one of the finest and most modern hotels in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, and is located in Tahachal, which is 3km from Swayambhunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hyatt Place Kathmandu is further described as “designed for the multi-tasking traveler,” featuring a casual atmosphere and located 4 km from the city center. It features a range of amenities, including a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, event space, suites and more.
The agreement was signed by Managing Director of Golyan Group Akshay Golyan, and Chairman of Rank Holdings Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Ravi Wijeratne. Rank is Sri Lanka’s largest entertainment conglomerate, with a portfolio of over 15 casinos in its home market and in Africa.
Also present at the agreement’s signature was Chairman of Golyan Group Pawan Golyan; Chairman of City Hotel Limited, Shakti Golyan; and CEO of Rank Entertainment Holdings Pvt Ltd, Asanga Warusavitharna. Nepal-headquartered Golyan Group is a conglomerate that runs businesses in a wide range of sectors, from manufacturing to financial services, and owns the 153-room Hyatt Place Hotel.
“Golyan Group is committed to strengthening Nepal’s economic and social base through industry excellence and with this agreement,” a press release states, as it continues “to open new areas of bringing in foreign income and investment benefiting the economy and the tourism industry.”
