Virgin Hotels Las VegasMoney, Baby! sportsbook lounge, which opened its doors last year, has abruptly closed, with owner MBLV LLC confirming its shutdown in a statement on Tuesday. Details of the closure or how employees would be affected were not disclosed.

“We are very sad to announce the closing of the Money, Baby! restaurant at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. We expect all of the facts surrounding the closure of Money, Baby! Las Vegas to come out in the future, but we have no further comment at this time”, the company’s statement reads.

Local news account Las Vegas Locally confirmed the closure and shared a document distributed to Money, Baby! staff, signed on June 28, in which employees were notified of the immediately effective shutdown.

The source described the 15,000 square-feet sportsbook and lounge from hospitality firm Clive Collective as “interesting and unique, but often very empty”, which could be one of the reasons for its demise

The news comes after the venue announced last year it was looking to hire 150 full- and part-time employees.

Despite the reported closure, the lounge’s website, Facebook and Instagram accounts remained active with no hints of its shutdown.

Money, Baby! was described as a “high-energy and high-volume sports venue” that combined restaurant, sports betting and nightlife concepts. The actual sportsbook at Virgin Hotels, operated by United Kingdom-based Betfred, has yet to open.
