The Malta Gaming Authority has decided to cancel the authorization awarded to operator BetDino, the regulator announced on Wednesday. The move became effective on January 18, in terms of regulation 10 of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations.
The sanction is being imposed upon BetDino for having breached regulations 9 (1) (c) and (l) of the compliance rules. Malta’s gaming watchdog found the operator as having failed to comply with one or more applicable obligations in terms of any regulatory instrument or any other applicable law of Malta.
Moreover, the MGA said BetDino has failed to pay in a timely manner all amounts due to the Authority; and that the licensee is thus no longer authorized to carry out any gaming operations and shall remove, with immediate effect, any reference to the Authority and the former authorization.
Last month, the MGA announced the suspension of the authorization awarded to Genesis Global Limited. The news came as no surprise given the troubled last few months of the company, which wound up its operations in Malta in December, laying off about 140 remaining employees around Christmas. Workers were told the firm filed for insolvency and that they were being made redundant after Genesis decided to “permanently close its operation in Malta.”
