ccording to a report by the state’s Casino Control and Lottery Commission, Ohio’s casino and racino industry has set another monthly record with $194.3 million in gambling revenue in August, after paying out winnings, reported cleveland.com.
The highlights of the report on Cleveland/Akron market last month are:
11 facilities have had a revenue that topped the August 2020 and August 2019 records, which accounted for $172.1 million and $164.4, respectively. However, despite this new record, business slowed during the last full month of the summer. Monthly revenue records were laso set in July, with $211.2 million, and June with $196.8 million.
Through the first eight months of 2021, gambling revenue has totaled nearly $1.6 billion statewide. About a third of this money is turned over to the state in the form of taxes and fees.
Ohio’s four casinos are permitted to run table games, poker rooms and slot machines under the regulation of the Ohio Casino Control Commission. The seven racinos come under the regulation of the Ohio Lottery Commission, and are not allowed to offer only skilled-based, instead using slots-like machines known as video lottery terminals.
