Las Vegas-based sports betting operator Circa Sports is expanding its footprint in its home market, set to take over the operations of the race and sportsbook at the Silverton Casino Lodge from January 1st, 2024. The book is currently operated by Caesars Entertainment’s William Hill.
Circa co-founder and CEO Derek Stevens spoke about the development at a meeting with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) earlier this week. “It’s a project we’ve worked on with the Silverton for quite a while,” Stevens told regulators.
“This will be another satellite sportsbook within the state. The sportsbook would include a substantial renovation of the property and be an investment on our part. We plan on hiring all of the individuals and they’ll be Circa Sports employees.”
On January 1, Circa is planning to open a temporary sportsbook at Silverton, in time for a series of college football bowl games and in advance of the Super Bowl. The remodeled permanent sportsbook is expected to be open right before the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, which is also known as ‘March Madness,’ and constitutes one of the most wagered-on sporting events in the US.
Las Vegas is already home to various Circa sportsbooks at locations including its self-titled locale, The D and Golden Gate casinos in downtown Vegas, as well as at the Tuscany Suites and Casino and the Pass Casino in Henderson. Last year, Circa Sports also partnered with the Legends Bay Casino in Sparks Northern Nevada.
The upcoming Silverton sportsbook will function under the proprietorship of Ed Roski Jr. Apart from catering to sharp bettors, Circa also hosts annual NFL contests like Circa Million and Circa Survivor, which draw a large number of participants every year. Interested players are required to check into a land-based Circa sportsbook to register.
Circa stands third as far as Nevada’s largest sportsbook by market share is concerned. Caesars/Willian Hill and MGM Resorts International ace the top positions of retail sportsbooks by count in the state.
