The Rio Las Vegas has unveiled concept art for its newest culinary concept, Lapa Lounge, slated to open its doors in June, in the property’s lobby. The lounge is inspired by the atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro’s Lapa neighborhood, renowned for its mix of bars, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

The concept behind Lapa Lounge is to transport guests to the lively streets of Rio, offering an ambiance that captures its nightlife scene. The lounge’s design features elements such as brass monkeys and jaguars adorning the ceiling, complemented by an Italian blown-glass chandelier, a honey onyx bar top offering a warm glow, reclaimed teak accents, animal-inspired fabrics in vibrant red and green, and a veined black marble floor.

Central to the Lapa Lounge experience is its bar program, which will showcase a selection of craft beers and bohemian-inspired cocktails. The new culinary concept is part of the resort’s ongoing $350 million makeover initiative.

The introduction of Lapa Lounge marks an important step for Rio Las Vegas, as it represents a rebranding and redesign of the lobby bar that has been a fixture of the property since its inception in 1990. This transformation follows the successful launch of Canteen Food Hall earlier this year.

Earlier this monthHyatt Hotels Corporation announced that the Rio has officially become a part of the World of Hyatt program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for qualifying stays at the Hyatt-affiliated 2,500-room hotel.
