Gaming & Technology Expo (GAT) has announced the launch of GAT Esports, a pioneer event in Colombia that will be held on September 5 – 6, in two key locations in the country’s capital. The first day will be held at the Emerald Room of the Bogota Marriott Hotel, while the second meeting will be held at the Santa Fe Hall of the Sheraton Bogota Hotel.

Designed as a B2B/B2C platform, GAT Esports will welcome public and private institutions, associations, companies, gamers, and all those interested in exploring the vibrant e-sports sector, which now boasts millions of global followers.

According to the organization, “this exclusive academic and commercial event, filled with networking and entertainment, will connect key players in the sector, fostering the integration and growth of e-sports in Colombia and Latin America.”

GAT Esports Academy

Starting at 9:00 am on September 5, the Bogota Marriott Hotel will offer a space designed to update knowledge and open a constructive dialogue on the current situation of e-sports in the country, GAT organizers explained.

Among the central topics to be discussed are the integration of esports into university programs, pedagogy, and neuroscience applied to the gaming world, marketing opportunities for brands oriented to youth segments, the monetization of esports, betting on esports, and virtual games.

The event will feature prominent speakers and panelists such as Ernesto Lucena Barrero, former Minister of Sports of Colombia and delegate of the Right to Sports of the Ombudsman’s Office; Mauricio Parodi, representative to the Chamber of the Congress of the Republic; Ángel Beccassino, renowned publicist and political scientist; Jorge Mario Karam Rozo, vice-rector of Research of the Corporación Universitaria de Cataluña; José Alejandro Sierra and Daniela Cañizares, specialists in sports law and gaming of the firm Brigard Urrutia; Mario Agudelo of the Universidad del Rosario; Natali Arenales of the Institución Universitaria Escuela Nacional del Deporte and Juan Carlos Cuervo, expert in gamification and education.

Also present will be leaders of the esports ecosystem in Colombia such as José Luis Plata, CEO of ACE (Association of Esports Clubs), Eder Cardozo of Scrub Division, and Ricardo Velasco of 8BitRichy.

The gamification strategy of the academic day, with the participation of the audience, will be based on Frente de Batalla, a virtual betting game with artificial intelligence created by the software company Mobadoo, which will launch the BetPlay platform in its portfolio of online games.

GAT Esports Academy will also include a closing panel with prominent sports journalists such as Javier Fernández ‘El Cantante del Gol’, José Agustín Martínez from RCN Antena 2, Ricardo Soler from Blu Radio, and Diana Rincón from Telemundo Deportes. The central topic of the forum will be the future of sports journalism in esports, viewed from the perspective of professional journalism, taking into account the arrival of esports to the Olympic sport and the challenges that this entails.

At the end of the day, awards will be presented to the winners of the gamification activity. José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events, announced that the organization and Pragmatic Play will host a reception for GAT Esports Academy attendees and special guests.

GAT Esports Exhibition

Furthermore, on September 6, within the framework of GAT Showcase Bogota, an annual event that brings the gaming industry together, the Sheraton Bogota Hotel will also be the center of the GAT Esports Exhibition, which will take place from 12:00 to 20:00 hours in the Santa Fe hall.

This space will be dedicated to the exhibition of products and services of the esports industry. The exhibition will also welcome other economic sectors and institutions linked to e-sports, creating an environment conducive to exploring strategic partnerships.

“GAT Esports promises to be an enriching experience for all participants, offering a platform for discussion, learning, and connection in the exciting world of eSports,” the event organizers highlighted.
