Lisbon’s Mayor, Carlos Moedas, officially opened the SBC Summit, which has drawn together 25,000 professionals from the sports betting and iGaming sectors to Lisbon, marking it as one of the industry’s most rapidly expanding events.

The SBC Summit is well-known for providing a distinctive blend of networking, product showcases, and educational experiences, drawing in an impressive 40% of C-level and senior decision-makers to its events.

The summit promises to bring considerable advantages to Lisbon, as SBC has pledged to hold the event at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa for the next five years, ensuring a sustained positive effect on the local economy, as reported by CasinoBeats.

On the first day of the event, Mayor Moedas toured the exhibitor area, following a visit from Minister of Economy Pedro Reis, who was the first city official to express support for the SBC Summit. Both leaders have demonstrated strong enthusiasm for the event’s inaugural occurrence in Lisbon, signaling a bright future for the organizer’s ongoing partnership with the city.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC said: “We are deeply appreciative of Mayor Moedas for taking time to attend our show, which we’ve dedicated our hearts to. Lisbon has proven to be a perfect fit for the SBC Summit, and the Mayor’s positive feedback while touring the expo floor has reinforced our belief that we’re exactly where we should be.

With the city’s backing and overwhelming support from attendees, we’re excited to grow this event further in the years to come. This edition has set a strong foundation, and we’re certain that many will return for next year’s summit,” he added.

Occupying the entire 110,000 square meters of the Feira Internacional de Lisboa and MEO Arena, the SBC Summit has become “one of the largest events ever hosted at the venue,” which also stages the renowned Web Summit. Over three days, from 24th-26th September, the event welcomed 600 exhibitors, industry CEOs at the exclusive SBC Leaders Summit, and special guests including World Wide Web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, skateboarding icon Tony Hawk, and UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili.

The Summit is estimated to contribute up to €100 million ($111 million) in economic benefits to Portugal’s budget, boosting Lisbon’s hospitality, tourism, and local services industries. Furthermore, beyond the economic boost, the summit has seen a 67% growth in attendees since last year, further establishing Lisbon as a premier destination for sports betting and gaming professionals.

The summit will conclude with a “spectacular” INFINITY Lisbon closing party, featuring world-famous DJs Miss Monique, Darude, and Don Diablo, ensuring a memorable finale to this year’s summit.
