Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue reached $505.9 million in September 2024, reflecting a 6.17% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
Total tax revenue generated from all forms of gaming, including fantasy contests, was reported at $211.2 million for the month.
While the overall revenue climbed, the state’s retail slot machines experienced a slight decline, with earnings falling 1.48% to $197 million. The number of active slot machines decreased to 24,558, down from 25,124 in September 2023.
Revenue from retail table games also dipped, dropping 2.33% to $73.5 million. In contrast, online casino games showed robust growth, generating $176.7 million — an increase of 10.79% from the previous year.
The sports wagering sector also saw significant activity, with the total betting handle rising 11.71% to $811.3 million. Taxable revenue from sports betting surged 46.13%, reaching $53.5 million, driven by the kickoff of the football season.
Additionally, revenue from video gaming terminals (VGTs) increased 3.59% to $3.4 million, while revenue from fantasy contests fell 4.83% to $1.85 million.
As for the top-grossing casinos in the state, Valley Forge Casino Resort led by reporting a 29.5% increase in revenue to $85.6 million, while Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course’s revenue rose 7.10% to $82.5 million revenue. Meanwhile, Parx Casino placed third with reported revenue of $52.2 million, a decrease of 6.52%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $51.1 million, reflecting a 7.84% increase.
