Days after rolling out in Pennsylvania, Caesars Digital has launched Horseshoe Online Casino in West Virginia. This is the third skin for Caesars in The Mountain State, joining Caesars and Caesars Palace Online Casino. It is also the third state for the Horseshoe Online Casino brand, which debuted in Michigan back in September.

The app’s launch in West Virginia is part of Caesars’ plan to bring casino games from the Las Vegas Strip straight to users’ devices. Caesars describes the Horseshoe brand as “appealing to the savvy gambling customer,” featuring a wide range of progressive jackpots, high-limit slot titles, and unique table games.

West Virginia now features 10 online casinos, including brands such as BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics, FanDuel, and Golden Nugget. Each offers different casino games, sign-up bonuses, and user experiences. 

West Virginia has a long history of gambling, especially with horse racing and land-based casinos. However, online gambling has changed the scene in the United States, creating a new area that requires new regulations.

It was in March 2019 that West Virginia passed the West Virginia Lottery Interactive Wagering Act, which legalized online casinos in the state, with the first group launching in 2020.

Slots, table games, live dealers, and video poker are all available via online casinos. The West Virginia Lottery Commission oversees them to ensure a safe and fair gaming environment for players.

Caesars first announced plans for the Horseshoe Casino rollout during its Q2 earnings call. The company experienced instant success with the Caesars Palace Online casino brand, which offered a casino-first experience for patrons, unlike the sports-first Caesars app.

Horseshoe is a great brand, and we feel like it’s going to resonate with a lot of customers,” Caesars Digital President Eric Hession said at the time. “But Caesars is even a better brand. And quite frankly, that’s going to be the flagship app that we have, and it’s got a year’s lead over the Horseshoe. So I would expect the Horseshoe to perform very strongly, but I don’t think it will command the market share that Caesars will.”

Caesars plans to roll out the Horseshoe Online Casino brand in New Jersey and Ontario next month, pending the necessary regulatory approvals.
