utch players now have full access to GGPoker’s platform, confirmed the poker room on Wednesday. The operator received an online gaming license from the Netherlands regulator (KSA) on October 1 and, following a soft launch period, is now launching its operations at full capacity in the country.
Players in the Dutch market can access the poker room via local site ggpoker.nl. Any delays encountered by new players during the soft launch period have now been resolved, said the operator. The account set up and funding processes have been streamlined wherever possible.
“The online poker landscape has changed a lot since the closure of the Dutch market, several years ago,” said Marco Trucco, Head of Europe at GGPoker. “Arguably, the biggest difference is that GGPoker is now the largest poker site in the world and the place where everyone loves to play. We’re really excited to welcome Dutch players to GGPoker to compete for the most prestigious poker achievements or just to have some fun at the tables.”
GGPoker is among the very first global operators to receive a Dutch license. The country’s regulated market launched on 1 October 2021, with only 10 out of 29 license applications approved.
Other foreign companies approved in the country include Bet365, LiveScore, Play North Ltd, and Tombola; while Dutch approved operators include Betent, Bingoal, FPO Netherlands BV, Holland Casino, and TOTO Online BV. More permits are expected to be added in the short term.
GGPoker’s status in the online poker room segment has seen it become a market leader, with a worldwide userbase in a range of games and features, including Rush & Cash poker, All-In or Fold, Flip & Go, SnapCam video messaging, and Smart Hud, among others. In 2020, the operator hosted the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online main event and it recently hosted WSOP Online 2021 as well.
The company’s launch in the Netherlands market could prove to be a profitable one. In a report presented earlier this year, experts outlined the market potential for the emerging Dutch market, stating it could become one of Europe’s largest. The local online gambling market has already grown significantly and looks primed to explode.
