Denmark’s gambling industry experienced a notable increase in revenue during November, with a 7.8% year-on-year rise, according to data released by the Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden. Total revenue for the month reached DKK654 million ($90.7 million), surpassing the DKK608 million ($84.89 million) recorded in November of the previous year and marking a 6.0% increase compared to October 2024.

The online casino sector remained the largest contributor, bringing in DKK295 million ($41.19 million), representing a substantial 17.9% growth from the previous year and a 3.9% increase from October. Slots continued to dominate the online casino market, accounting for 77.4% of all revenue in this segment.

Other popular online casino games included blackjack, which contributed 6.7%, followed closely by roulette at 6.6%. Poker made up 3.5% of the total, while bingo and other games accounted for 3.1% and 2.7%, respectively.

While online casino revenue showed strong growth, other segments of the market saw more modest increases. Sports betting, the second-largest contributor to total revenue, generated DKK232 million ($32.39 million) in November, showing a marginal 0.3% rise year-on-year. Mobile betting remained the preferred channel, contributing 65.4% of all sports betting revenue. Desktop betting accounted for 14.7%, while 19.9% of wagers were placed at physical retail locations across Denmark.

Revenue from physical slot machines amounted to DKK95 million ($13.26 million), representing a 1.9% year-on-year increase. The majority of this revenue, approximately 79.3%, came from gaming halls, while the remaining 20.7% was derived from slot machines located in restaurants. Land-based casinos generated DKK31 million ($4.33 million) during the month, posting a slight 0.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

In addition to financial performance, Spillemyndigheden provided insights into responsible gambling initiatives. By the end of November, the number of individuals registered with ROFUS, Denmark’s national self-exclusion scheme, had reached 54,704. Of these registrants, 77.8% were male and 22.2% female, with 65.9% opting for permanent self-exclusion.
