Las Vegas’ Palms Casino Resort has upgraded all its blackjack tables to a 3:2 payout, reversing a trend that favors the house. The change, which went effective on Valentine’s Day, applies to the main floor and high-limit areas, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Previously, Palms had a mix of 3:2 and 6:5 tables, the latter a common payout on the Strip. In a 3:2 game, a blackjack pays $15 on a $10 bet, while a 6:5 game pays only $12 for the same wager.
“We are committed to delivering the best gaming experience for our guests, especially our local players,” said Scott Hager, Vice President of Gaming at Palms. “Enhancing and expanding our blackjack offerings reflects our dedication to providing top-tier table games and ensuring an exceptional experience for everyone who walks through our doors.”
Since the pandemic, many casinos have raised table minimums and introduced higher house-edge games, such as triple-zero roulette and 6:5 blackjack.
John Mehaffey, Co-Owner of VegasAdvantage.com, noted that while post-COVID gaming adjustments initially favored the house, casinos may be reevaluating due to player response.
Despite the improved blackjack odds, Palms has confirmed it will not raise table minimums. The casino said table minimums will remain the same, with $5 blackjack and $5 craps available 24/7.
Palms is owned and operated by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, who acquired the resort from Station Casinos in 2021 for $650 million.
