MGM Resorts International and BetMGM are expanding key partnerships to enhance resources, advance research, and strengthen industry initiatives supporting individuals affected by problem gambling.

The announcement coincides with Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM) in March, recognized by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG).

MGM Resorts will donate $180,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute to study the impact of sports betting and develop responsible gaming strategies.

“As a global gaming and hospitality leader, we are always looking to support innovative and actionable research that can make a positive impact,” said Stephen Martino, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, MGM Resorts. “These studies will allow us to support our industry and enhance the sustainability of communities in which we operate.”

BetMGM is also expanding its Kindbridge Behavioral Health referral program nationwide to ensure players in all operating jurisdictions have access to specialized mental health support.

“Responsible gaming is a focal point of our operations, and we will continue to invest in programs that promote player protection and well-being,” Rhea Loney, Chief Compliance Officer at BetMGM.

“Expanding our partnership with Kindbridge ensures that essential support services are always within reach for those who need it,” she added.

Additionally, MGM Resorts and BetMGM, in partnership with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), will increase GameSense responsible gaming messaging in digital platforms and retail sportsbooks. The campaign will feature reminders for bettors to “take a time-out,” QR codes linking to resources, and GameSense Advisors available at BetMGM Sportsbooks and MGM Rewards desks.

Moreover, the two companies are also working with University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Gaming Law students to highlight the role of responsible gaming in guest experience and industry sustainability.

“Exploring the GameSense program firsthand helps them grasp the importance of responsible gaming, especially as more jurisdictions require such important initiatives,” sais Sarah Gonzales, Director of Graduate Programs at UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law.

Other commitments include $60,000 from MGM Resorts to State Councils on Problem Gambling for advocacy and prevention programs. BetMGM is renewing its partnership with EPIC Global Solutions to provide responsible gaming education for employees. Both companies will continue research-based training for all employees and support the American Gaming Association’s “Have A Game Plan.® Bet Responsibly.™” campaign.
